Do you remember the Jonestown massacre in 1978? The Reverend Jim Jones took his followers to Guyana, and eventually, there was a mass suicide. Many of the victims were teenagers. The authors, two former teachers who taught the kids, tell the powerful story. The writing is beautiful, passionate, yet objective. The book brings the 60s & 70s to life in well-chosen vignettes, leading to the problems with education at the time, and the creation of the “Opportunity School” thanks to the daring and persistence of a few idealistic young teachers.
